You won't be in the battle directly, but you will tell soldiers, tanks, and other things to move toward the enemy and shoot them. There are different parts of the battlefield that you can see. On the second level, however, each battle lasts several rounds, and you have to win all of them to move on. If you don't, you have to play that level again.
